Mana Wahine Programme

Mana Wahine Programme

Over the duration of the programme the girls explored the unique essence of a woman from an intersectional Te Ao to empower young women to have respect for themselves and their bodies.  Through the creation story, we take a deeper look at the history of our people and how we came to be.  Specific to women we focus on Wahine Atua (female goddess), Wahine Rangatira (female of high stature) and we invite guest speakers to share their story of success.  In the second half of the programme focuses on body image and gender stereotypes, acting as a bridge between traditional knowledge and contemporary challenges wahine face today.

The programme is adapted to meet the specific needs of the girls who attend Clendon Park School.

Clendon Park School Intermediate students attend this programme, which is run at the Manurewa Marae, every Thursday, for an hour and a half for one term only.
